Galena, Illinois is the place to go Sunday, July 4! Live music and food will welcome revelers downtown Galena, beginning at 6 p.m. on Green Street, in front of the old Post Office. Food and music are brought to you by the Kiwanis Club of Galena, and the GOATS bicycle club.
People begin staking out spots in the grass early to watch the fireworks, which begin at dusk. Seems like this paragraph should have more sentences, but it totally doesn’t.
There’s really not more to say, folks. I’m kind of writing this in a state of disbelief. 2020 put us through the ringer, and the Kiwanis Club of Galena cancelled or postponed a lot of stuff last year. It got disheartening. We had to wear masks as we presented our annual scholarships to the winners. We cancelled a fun run for the parks. We couldn’t run our Country Fair booth next to the Galena Elks. We’re still thinking about their fries.
Our July Fourth fireworks didn’t happen until December last year, like we’d forgotten how calendars worked or something.
Look, if you’ve been to Galena on the Fourth before, you know the drill. Food and music just off of Main Street by city hall, and then fireworks at dusk. There’s no parade this year, because there’s dining on Main Street. So, please, take advantage of that. Go into every shop, and make a purchase. We’ve got cool shops you can’t find anywhere else on this planet, and we’ve got the best downtown dining in the world.
Thank you for coming to Galena. And please, let’s just have fun on the Fourth!
