Barbara A. (Owens) Lynch, of Mashpee, passed away on March 17, 2024 at Cape Cod Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Lynch, Sr. with whom she shared over fifty wonderful years of marriage.Barbara was born March 2, 1941 in Boston, MA to the late Francis J. Owens and the late Margaret A. (O’Leary) Owens. From her earliest days, she shared a special bond with her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth A. (Jennings) O’Leary, whose home was also Barbara’s. She proudly graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1958, embarking on a journey that saw her joining Sears as an administrative assistant shortly thereafter. It was in the bustling aisles of the catalog department where she met her future husband, affectionately known as ‘Joe.’ Their love story began, culminating in a joyful marriage in September 1964.Embracing motherhood with the birth of her two cherished children in 1967 and 1970, Barbara’s nurturing spirit led her to further her education in the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Quincy College. Her compassionate heart found its calling as she dedicated herself to a career as a home health aide, touching the lives of many until her well-deserved retirement in 2017.Barbara made her home in Dedham for 39 years before moving to Mashpee in 2003 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren after the loss of her son. In Mashpee, her presence quickly became a staple in the community. She not only enriched the Mashpee Women’s Club with her involvement but also stood as a steadfast parishioner at Christ the King Church. Beyond her organized activities, Barbara was a regular volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, often side by side with her good friend, Joanne. Her enthusiasm for life was infectious; she thrived on staying active, mastering yoga poses or dancing away in Zumba classes, often several times a week. Known for her sweet disposition, Barbara also had a spirited resilience, never shy to ‘get her Irish up’ in defense of her convictions. Above all, she is remembered as a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a loyal friend. Barbara’s absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.Barbara leaves behind her beloved daughter, Sharon M. Pinsonneault, and her husband, Leon, of Mashpee, MA; her cherished grandchildren, Casey Pinsonneault of Mashpee, MA, Sydney Pinsonneault of Marstons Mills, MA, and Colby Pinsonneault of Mashpee, MA. Her memory will also be fondly remembered by her adored Persian cat, Tiffany, her ‘fur baby.’ Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph F. Lynch, Sr., and her son, Joseph F. Lynch, Jr.To celebrate her life, a visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 5 Job’s Fishing Rd., Mashpee, MA 02649, followed by a Funeral Mass at the same location at 11:00 AM.
