Robert S. Mellen Obituary

Robert S. Mellen, 88 years old of Leeds passed away at home peacefully with his loving family surrounding him on Friday, March 22, 2024. Robert was born on October 12, 1935 in Brookline, Massachusetts to Walter Mellen and Irene Catherine (Nicholson) Mellen. He started work at a young age then went to work for Lipton Oil at age 16, until 1974 when he moved his family to Maine. He then went to work at B.I.W where he was a pipefitter until his retirement in 1998. Robert enjoyed working with his hands, he even helped three of his kids build their houses. He was always there to help out anyone in need. He enjoyed family get-togethers and hanging out with friends. One of his favorite pastimes was reading and seeing his grandkids. Robert is predeceased by his parents Walter and Irene Mellen, wife Catherine Mellen, Brothers Walter, Ralph, and John Mellen and sisters Mary Russell, Lois Priolo, and June Geddes.He is survived by his sister Elaine Mellen of Boston, MA, sons Robert Mellen and wife Lori of Monmouth, Steve Mellen and wife Roberta of South Paris, Scott Mellen of Lewiston, daughter Cindy Jipson and husband Warren of Leeds, son Daniel Mellen and wife Stephanie of Leeds. Grandkids Kelsey and her husband Alex, Kennedi Mellen, Jacob Mellen, and Nicholas Mellen. Great Grandkids Alice Verrill, Nathaniel Verrill and many nieces and nephews.There will be a service at St. Francis Xavier Church on 20 Lake St, Winthrop, ME on Friday, April 5th at 1:00PM. A Christian burial will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to RCAM in Leeds, 81 Church Hill Rd, Leeds, ME 04263
